WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Physiotherapy is a branch of medicine that diagnoses, treats, and prevents the occurrence of disease through the application of physical means. As well as promoting the health and well-being of the populations. It also involves the restoration of lost function through rehabilitation( W.H.O).

Who is a Physiotherapist?
  • A health care professional trained to diagnose diseases affecting human function and daily living, and provide treatment by use of physical means.
  • Identify factors that would lead to disease and disability.
  • Carry out Rehabilitation, health prevention, and promotion interventions
Physiotherapy in Health Care
  1. Diseases and injuries lead to problems with function (impairment).
  2. Impairment leads to Disability: treated or not.
  3. Disability is an experience of reduced or total loss of function
  4. Drugs do not cure disabilities.
  5. Disabilities create social disadvantages and cause suffering.
  6. Surgery improves the structure but does not restore functional use.
